GPT Announces Availability of New Mimaki UJV-160

17/12/2008

Graphic Printing Technologies (GPT) has announced that it has added the new Mimaki UV-curable inkjet printer, the UJV-160 to its portfolio of market-leading printing systems. The new printer is an excellent solution for printing directly onto PVC and vinyl media and is designed for a range of display, outdoor signage and vehicle-wrapping applications.

Stuart Cole, Managing Director of GPT Ltd, says, "The Mimaki UJV-160 uses breakthrough UV LED curing technology to deliver excellent quality printing directly onto PVC and vinyl.  This significantly broadens the range of solutions that print providers can offer to their customers. We have carried out extensive testing on this product and are very excited about the potential it has in the market."

Drying time has a direct effect on the productivity of an inkjet printer, but the UJV-160 enables instant drying, which massively increases productivity potential. Media is ready for finishing immediately after printing and this makes the job turnaround time from printing to processing much faster than many other printing methods.

The UJV-160 uses Mimaki's new flexible UV LED curable ink set, which employs a formula to enable expansion by up to 200%. This results in no cracking during the printing process, even when the surface is bent or curved. The technology makes the UJV-160 ideal for printing onto thin, flexible PVC substrates used for vehicle wrapping, shutters and other similar applications.

Stuart Cole concludes, "We have already demonstrated the UJV-160 to some potential customers and they have been really impressed with its quality and flexibility. We expect this printer to be a major success during 2009."
