Dye Sublimation and Textile Printing

GPT steps into the textile and apparel industry with Mimaki’s range of market leading dye-sublimation printers.

Dye-sublimation printers, better known as dye-sub, use heat to transfer dye onto a broad range of substrates, including plastic, paper, or fabric. During the process, the dye itself passes through several transitions from solid and gas states, without ever becoming a liquid.

The core colours for most dye-sublimation printers are cyan, magenta, yellow and overcoating (CMYO) colours, not the more recognised CMYK colour set. In dye-sub, the black dye is removed in favour of a clear overcoating, which is stored on the ribbon. The overcoating acts as a thin laminate to offer some water-resistance and to protect prints from fading and colour loss because of UV light and the air.

GPT offers its customers a broad range of dye-sub printing and cutting solutions for textile applications. We actively encourage customers to talk to us about what can be achieved with these systems and how GPT can deliver, implement and support the right solution for your requirements.
